February 2026 Newsletter

Published February 6, 2026

  • Thank you to folks who joined us for our January virtual mini-convening and continue to contribute to OCFSN’s strategic planning process! It was great to have so many from across the network participate on the Mission, Vision, and Values drafting exercise with Terra Soma.

If you missed it, you can watch the full recording and review the slides.

We'd like to provide folks who weren’t able to attend with the opportunity to share your input to help shape these statements. Please use this survey link to provide input for OCFSN’s updated mission, vision, values statements by Thursday, February 12th.

Curious about how OCFSN works? You can just watch the Overview of OCFSN section where we share about OCFSN’s structure, ways to engage with the network, working group highlights, and how OCFSN amplifies and connects food systems work across Oregon.

As a reminder, you can find previous materials from past OCFSN convenings + working groups in this OCFSN members public folder.

  • We are excited to share the first completed step of the OCFSN strategic planning process, the final Taking Stock Brief, and it’s Executive Summary

The Taking Stock Brief is a comprehensive discovery process that involves thorough review of relevant documents; multiple meetings with OCFSN staff; a structured intake process with the Leadership Team; a series of interviews; a survey of OCFSN membership; and two sessions at the OCFSN November 2025 Convening. This intake process culminated in the production of multiple rounds of drafts of the Taking Stock Brief, with ongoing reflection, review, and refinement by OCFSN stakeholders throughout this phase. The Taking Stock Brief provides a synthetic analysis of existing conditions, strategic considerations, and central organizational questions, as well as the provision of draft strategic priorities that become the backbone of the strategic plan document.

We invite folks to review the Taking Stock Brief as we move into the planning phase of this process. The full timeline for network strategic planning is found below.

  • OCFSN member organizations, keep an eye out in March for a request to vote for Leadership Team candidates and new member organizations!

Resources & Engagement Opportunities

  • Attention: Farmers and Food System Advocates

Friends of Family Farmers is seeking feedback on how our programming, advocacy, and services can better support Oregon’s small and medium, socially and ecologically responsible farmers and the food systems they exist within.

Our goal is always to be working on the most pressing and necessary issues for our farmers across the state, and we are SO proud to be an organization directed by farmers.

Whether you are a farmer, rancher, local food supporter or food system advocate/professional, your voice is valuable to us when we are prioritizing our efforts for the future. The survey is available in English and Spanish and we will be accepting responses through March 31st.
